Ame on Juggernaut took the map from Spirit: Results of the first day of Esports World Cup 2025
The first day of Esports World Cup 2025 has concluded. Recall that in the group stage of the tournament, each team plays three BO2 matches to ultimately take first place in the group and advance directly to the playoffs or try their luck through the second round.
Group A
Both series in the group ended in a draw:
Former players of NAVI Junior, who recently joined the main roster of Natus Vincere, are playing their first tournament under the new name. On the first map, they successfully confirmed their right to be called the main roster by capitalizing on Talon Esports's mistakes and confidently finishing the game in their favor. However, on the second map, the more experienced roster of Talon Esports still took their own.
Team Spirit confidently took the first map, nevertheless, in the second Xtreme Gaming rehabilitated. They chose Juggernaut for Ame, who hadn't been picked on the pro scene for 3 months. The skill build was also unusual: he leveled up Healing Ward at the first level. Unexpectedly, but this decision paid off: Xtreme Gaming took the map, and the carry's KDA was 12/1/16.
Group B
Group B also ended in a draw:
BetBoom Team lost to Gaimin Gladiators on the first map, picking Phantom Lancer for Pure, who is difficult to counter against the enemy draft. On the second map, they equalized the score. Much of the victory was contributed by Save-, who made an impact on Marci across the map.
About another confrontation, RAMZES666 commented: "Execration surprised a bit, of course. Taking a map from Team Falcons, I think, is okay. They also smashed them without a chance." On the second map, the Filipinos relaxed, drafted poorly, and lost to the opponent.
Group C
Here, there were no draws:
Clear outsiders, Team Yandex and Virtus.pro, lost to their opponents, Aurora and Tundra Esports respectively. It's worth noting the play of the midlaner from Aurora - kiyotaka. He became the MVP in this match and finished the series with a total KDA of 35/10/24. Special attention was deserved by Nightfall, playing on the signature Phantom Lancer, who, like Juggernaut, hadn't won on the pro scene for a long time.
The match between Tundra Esports and Virtus.pro was so one-sided that it was memorable only for how Whitemon and Saksa took Roshan without the help of cores at the 11th minute.
Group D
Favorites were also determined in Group D:
Having won at FISSURE Universe: Episode 5, Team Liquid easily dealt with Shopify Rebellion.
The battle between PARIVISION and Heroic turned out to be more unpredictable. On the second map, the South American team almost turned the game in their favor, but Satanic and his team still managed to finish the game in their favor.
Esports World Cup 2025 takes place from July 8-19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 16 teams are competing for a prize pool of 3 million dollars and a slot in the next Esports World Cup.
