Aurora Edge Out Tundra for Playoff Spot – EWC Group Stage Results
The group stage of the Esports World Cup 2025 event has come to an end, with four teams locking in direct paths to the playoffs. On the final day, Team Liquid and Aurora secured a top eight finish.
In Group C, both Aurora and Tundra Esports swept their final matches to end with 5-1 records. This forced a tiebreaker for the top seed. The series went all the way to a third game, with the decisive map being close and unpredictable. However, Aurora eventually pulled through in the late-game teamfights to secure the victory.
This result meant Aurora became the third Eastern European team in the Esports World Cup 2025 playoffs so far.
In Group D, Team Liquid entered the final day with a 4-0 record and only needed one map win in their last series to guarantee the top spot. They got the job done by winning the first map against Heroic, and had nothing to play for in the second map. However, Heroic needed the win to force a tiebreaker against PARIVISION, which they did.
Still, Heroic’s efforts were in vain, as despite putting up a good fight in the tiebreaker, PARIVISION still pulled through to finish second in Group D. This means they will enter the Elimination Stage with a favorable seeding.
The four teams that qualified for playoffs can enjoy a short break, as the Elimination Stage will begin. 12 teams compete for the four remaining slots in the playoffs bracket.
The Esports World Cup 2025 is a $3,000,000 tournament taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 16 teams compete from July 8 to 19.
