Cloud 9 and Dota 2

Just yesterday, the Reddit community has stirred up and began to discuss the potential return of the eminent Esports organization ??Cloud 9 to Dota 2. The reason for this was that the ??Cloud 9's CEO followed all ??4 Zoomers members on Twitter. Amid these rumors, we decided to remember the history of the organization of ??Cloud 9 in Dota 2.

First phase

In February 2014, ??Cloud 9 announced that they would enter into a new for them Esports discipline - Dota 2. Before that, they already had League of Legends and Call of Duty rosters.

The organization decided not to assemble the team from scratch but signed the already assembled one from Speed Gaming, which no longer exists.

The organization didn't hide the fact that it needed a team only to participate in The International. And they have done that well, taking 5-6th place in 2014. Immediately after this, ??SingSing leaves the team, and an endless series of replacements began.

In the next game season, the team played worse than the previous one: at TI 2015, it took a modest 9-12 place. It was the main reason for the first disband, which happened in November 2015.

Second phase

After a long break, ??Cloud 9 decided to try again to assemble a Dota 2 team. In December 2016, they signed the young ??Danish Bears, which included ??Ace and ??HestEJoe-RoTTeN. But the experiment ended already in May when it became clear that they didn't even qualify for The International 2017.

The solution found quickly: the organization signed ??Team NP, the roster of which consisted entirely of players who had previously played for ??Cloud 9.

Once again, they were tasked to go to The International 2017 and succeed. But the result was depressing. Although the team passed the qualifications, it showed a terrible play, taking 13-16 places. A week later, a message comes about a disband. Again.

Third phase

In January of this year, ??Cloud 9 made a third attempt to get a strong Dota 2 roster.

This time the organization, for the first time, decided to create a team from scratch. ??MISERY and ??pieliedie searched for the rest players. For a month, they were choosing, and ??EternalEnvy, ??Ace and ??Sneyking have signed to the team.

When they started to participate in tournaments, the result was so bad that another disband took place just a month later.

Conclusion

The organization has extensive experience in managing the roster for League of Legends. For a long time, they are holding leadership in the American region. But with Dota 2, they obviously don't succeed. If the rumors turn out to be true, and ??Cloud 9 once again tries to enter this discipline by signing ??4 Zoomers, will they succeed this time?
