DPC: SEA Regional League — Highlight Matches Week 1

Dota 2
Published at: 2021-01-16 11:25:40

Two days are left before the start of the long-awaited matches of the DPC Regional Leagues. Each tournament operator revealed a schedule for the entire period of its holding. We know that the league has many divisions and involves a huge number of matches in which it is easy to get confused. That is why we have prepared a new rubric, where we will select and cover the central matches for the entire game week for particular regions. And we'll start with the SEA region.

Fnatic vs. T1 | January 20 - 08:00 GMT | Upper Division

It is the first match in the upper division and one of the most intriguing confrontations in the entire region. Both teams received a direct invitation to the upper division. They didn't have to compete in an incredible amount of qualifying matches, and they could spend all that time training. In fact, in November 2020, both teams changed their rosters. With the updated rosters, they took part in BTS Pro Series Season 4: Southeast Asia. Then the teams met twice, and each of them won 1 match. Let's see in what form the teams approached the matches in the league.

BOOM Esports vs. Neon Esports | January 20 - 11:00 GMT | Upper Division

BOOM Esports is a team that has received a direct invitation to the top division. Last year it was one of the most stable teams in the SEA region: only one victory at the ESL SEA Championship 2020, but many second and third places. It is worth noting that the team hasn't been participating in official matches since November 2020. All this time, it has been at the bootcamp.

Neon Esports had to get a ticket to the tournament in the closed qualifiers, but they did it without any problems. In November, a new player joined Neon Esports, which forced some other team members to change their playing roles. Unlike the rival, Neon Esports didn't rest but participated in all tournaments over the past month and a half. Just before the start of the regional leagues, the team also arrived at the bootcamp.

TNC Predator vs. Execration | January 23 - 08:00 GMT | Upper Division

TNC Predator had an extremely unstable experience throughout the previous season. At the very beginning of the year, it was the strongest team in the region. But by the middle of the year, the results began to decline, and the team often ended up in the middle positions. Nevertheless, TNC Predator managed to maintain its roster almost without losses: within a year, only March left the team, and Febby took his place.

2020 has been a particularly challenging year for Execration. Due to the unsatisfactory results, the team had to change the roster more than once. Only in December, it found the optimal one, almost all of whose members are young and unknown players. However, with difficulty, they managed to win a ticket to the top division in the closed qualifiers.
