ESL ONE Thailand 2020 Online Announced
Tournament operator ESL in collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand will hold a Dota 2 online tournament - ESL One Thailand 2020. The tournament is for two regions, Asia and America, and has a total prize pool of $200,000.
ESL One Thailand 2020 America
The American Division will be on August 8-30. There are 8 local teams that will play out $65,000: 6 teams will receive a direct invitation, and the remaining 2 will go through qualifications. The tournament will have a group stage and a playoff stage. The group one will hold in the Round-Robin format, and the 4 strongest teams will go to the playoffs from there. Then they will play by the standard Double Elimination bracket in playoffs.
ESL One Thailand 2020 Asia
The Asian division starts later than the American and will hold from August 20 to September 6. It has already $135,000 as prize pool, but there are 12 participating teams, of which:
- 8 teams will receive a direct invitation
- 2 teams will go through qualifiers in Thailand
- 2 teams will go through qualifiers in the Asian region
The Asian division will also divide into the group and playoff stages. On the first one, all teams will be in 2 groups, where they will play in the Round-Robin format. Two strongest teams from each group will go to the playoffs of the upper bracket, two more - to the lower bracket, and the two weakest teams will leave the tournament. In the playoffs, they are waiting for the standard Double Elimination bracket.
