First teams have already advanced to the playoffs, results of the fifth day of EWC 2026
The fifth day of the group stage of Esports World Cup 2026 has concluded. Today only groups A and B played their matches. Team Falcons and Nigma Galaxy directly advanced to the playoffs, while Poor Rangers, Level UP, GamerLegion and L1ga Team left the tournament.
Group A:
A clean victory for Team Falcons over Xtreme Gaming allowed the Falcons to take first place in the group and advance to the playoffs without a tiebreaker against BetBoom Team. This time, the Chinese team managed to put up a fight against the favorites and looked noticeably better than in yesterday's meeting. BetBoom Team still could not catch up with Team Falcons in points, despite a 2-0 win over GamerLegion; they lacked the points to compete for first place. Rune Eaters started the day with a hard-fought win over Poor Rangers on the first map, then on a roll closed the second map in 29 minutes. This result allowed the team to advance further.
Group B:
The main sensation of the group — Nigma Galaxy. The team unexpectedly took first place and secured a direct spot in the playoffs. Their first match against PlayTime showed that the roster changes were successful: the team approached the tournament in excellent form. On the first map, Nigma Galaxy came back from a 31 thousand gold deficit after 65 minutes of play, most of which they spent playing catch-up. The finishing touch was a rampage from lorenof, after which Nigma Galaxy easily took the second map. Aurora and Team Liquid were considered the main favorites of the group, and their head-to-head match ended in a 1-1 draw. As a result, it was Team Liquid that denied Aurora the chance to play a tiebreaker for first place. The match between L1ga Team and Level UP no longer had any significance — both teams ended their run at Esports World Cup 2026.
