The Quarter Finals of Games of the Future 2024 featured Chinese teams coming on top and a massive upset to close the day.

LGD Gaming 2-0 Neon Esports

The day started with a Neon Esports roster showing some potential throughout the early stages of the tournament, but they were finally met with real opponents in the form of LGD Gaming.

The first map of the series remained close until the 31-minute mark, but LGD began taking control of the game after a successful fight, snowballing their lead to win the game at 42 minutes.

As expected, LGD could go through the second game without too much trouble to win the series 2-0. With this result, the Neon boys were sent home while LGD made it to the Semi Finals.

G2.IG 2-1 Entity Gaming

The most entertaining series of the day had to be this matchup between G2.IG and Entity Gaming.

Game 1 was incredibly back-and-forth, with both teams throwing leads. Ultimately, Entity could snag the first map 57 minutes after it started. The difference maker was the stand-in Yowe’s performance on Queen of Pain, ending the game 15/1/13 with a kill participation percentage of 93%.

Entity was cooking something good in the second map, as they built up a 10,000 net worth lead at the 24-minute mark. Somehow, the Western European squad slipped up and allowed G2.IG to make a comeback. Thanks to Monet’s Faceless Void, G2.IG could tie the series 1-1.

Unfortunately, the third game didn’t live up to the hype the series was building so far. Game 3 was a total farm fest, with minimal kills being put up on the board. After picking off watson’s Naga Siren once, G2.IG snowballed and won the map in 44 minutes.

G2.IG will face LGD Gaming in the Quarter Final while Entity Gaming continues its string of disappointing results.

Xtreme Gaming 2-1 Azure Ray

Lou and Tianming finally had a chance to get revenge on the teammates who left them for Xtreme Gaming

Azure Ray found the perfect pick in Map 1: Outworld Devourer on Ori. Xtreme Gaming was leading the early game after a reasonably good laning stage, but eventually, it became an impossible Troll Warlord game for Ame due to the counter of OD. Ori had a completely free game and helped his team win the first map.

The second game was an easy stomp in favor of Xtreme Gaming. All the team fights and pickoffs were correctly executed, and Azure Ray did not stand a chance, having to GG out at 33 minutes.

In the final map of the series, Ame surprised the fans with a Phantom Lancer pick. Though we don’t see the hero too often anymore, it seemed like a completely free game for it. The game seemed competitive going into the mid game, but Xtreme Gaming eventually took the lead after successful fights and won the series.

Azure Ray showed some potential but made some mistakes in the drafting stage, letting certain picks slip past.

PSG Quest 0-2 BOOM Esports

Everyone expected the final series to be an easy win for PSG Quest, who showed a strong performance throughout the previous stages of the tournament. However, Pakazs worked his magic and pulled off an incredible upset.

In the first map, a 24th pick Meepo in the hands of TA2000 seemed like it would work out. PSG Quest built up a 16,000 net worth lead at 38 minutes, but after a miraculous fight at the top lane, BOOM turned the game around and pulled off a comeback with Pakazs’ Terrorblade leading the charge.

The second game was a total stomp in the favor of the South Americans. PSG Quest could not find any good fights, and Pakazs’ Morphling was getting out of control. BOOM completed the 2-0 upset and only took 28 minutes to end the second game.

BOOM find Xtreme Gaming as their next opponent. Will there be another upset?

Only four teams remain in Games of the Future 2024. The winner will be decided in two days of play.
