Historic Event – eSpoiled Calls GG, Only To Win Seconds Later By Creeps Destroying The Enemy Throne

For the first time in the history of professional Dota 2, the team that surrendered with a “GG” call ended up winning the game. This occurrence happened in the match between Nemiga Gaming and eSpoiled in the Eastern European Closed Qualifier for The International 2025

51-minutes into the second map of the series, Nemiga Gaming had killed eSpoiled’s core heroes without buyback, leading to ssnovv1 calling “GG”. This led to a chain of numerous players in the game calling “GG” as well, in typical fashion.

However, eSpoiled didn’t realize that Nemiga Gaming’s Ancient was getting hit by a double creep wave, including a Siege Creep. The creeps ended up destroying the throne before the 10-second window in which the “GG” was called, displaying that eSpoiled had won the game.

According to the rules specified in the PGL rulebook, if a team surrendered, it would result in a loss. This meant that even though the game displayed eSpoiled winning, the victory was still awarded to Nemiga Gaming. Had ssnovv1 not called “GG”, they would have won the game in the most hilarious fashion. Instead, eSpoiled were eliminated from the Closed Qualifier for The International 2025, ending their entire run.

The Eastern European Qualifier for The International 2025 runs from June 4 to 8, with the winner earring a slot at the main event, which will take place on September 3 to 14.
