OB Esports x Neon won't be fined for performing at the Major with a substitution

Valve won't fine OB Esports x Neon, who played at the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 with a forced substitution, as their main roster player ??John Anthony "Natsumi-" Vargas fell ill with COVID-19 before flying to Singapore. This information was shared by Esports analyst Ben "Noxville" Steenhuisen.

According to the rules, teams participating in a Major with substitutions must be fined 40% of all DPC points won at that Major. An exception was made for OB Esports x Neon because their player contracted the coronavirus and couldn't go with the team to Singapore for the safety of other people. At the Major, the team took 5-6 place and earned 300 DPC points.

In total, 5 teams came to the tournament with replacements: except for OB Esports x Neon, these were Nigma, T1, Quincy Crew, and Team Aster. However, this exception to the rules wouldn't affect Team Aster since their player was absent from the tournament due to the arrest.

ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 was held offline from March 27 to April 4 in Singapore. Sixteen teams from all over the world competed for the champion's title, $500,000 and 2,700 DPC points.
