The Omega League for the Asian region
WePlay! Esports and Epic Esports Events have announced the third region to host Omega League - Asian. In this article, you will find all the known information about it.
Tournament system
From August 1 to 22, twelve teams from China and Asia will compete for a total prize pool of $40,000. The tournament will have two stages: group and playoffs.
Group stage
At the group stage, all applicants will be divided into two groups of six teams: the first one is a group of China, and the second one is a group of Asia.
The teams will play by a Round Robin system in the BO3 format. According to the results of the groups:
- 1st and 2nd places from each group go to the semifinals of the upper playoff bracket
- 3rd place from each group goes to the first round of the lower playoff bracket
- 4th and 5th places in each group will participate in the play-in stage, where they will compete for slots in the first round of the lower playoffs bracket
- 6th places leave the tournament
Playoff stage
At the next step, teams will play by a Double-Elimination bracket. Their starting positions will depend on the results of the group stage. All matches will play in BO3 format, grand final - BO5.
Participants
Twelve teams will take part in the tournament: six from each region. Four teams from each region received direct invitations, while the rest have to pass open qualifiers, which will hold from July 25 to 30.
