Parker’s Grand Return to Wallachia Starts with an Upset Over BB Team
After going missing from the Tier 1 scene for several months, Season 2 winner Parker has returned to PGL Wallachia Season 5 with Edge with a statement. Here’s a recap of what happened on Day 1 of the event.
Xtreme Gaming started the day with a sizable upset against Tundra Esports. We haven’t seen the latter play in a while since they skipped DreamLeague Season 26. The Chinese squad ended the series 2-1 against a rusty Tundra lineup.
Parker and Puppey joined forces with South American squad Edge for the event and managed to take down the DreamLeague Season 26 runner-up in a close series. Despite losing the first map, Parker went 17/1/13 and 10/0/7 in the following maps to complete the reverse sweep.
Team Liquid entered Wallachia with Tobi as a stand-in and looked relatively shaky in their first match against Heroic. After losing the first map, Team Liquid had their backs against the wall in the second, seeing a 9,000 gold deficit. However, they pulled off the comeback to win Game 2 and closed the series in the third map.
Nigma Galaxy took on the main Natus Vincere roster in their first series at the tournament. According to rumors, this would be the final tournament before the Natus Vincere roster got dropped. Despite being a “dead roster walking,” Natus Vincere still took down Nigma Galaxy in 2-1 fashion.
PGL Wallachia Season 5 is an offline event that runs from June 21 to 29. Teams are competing for a share of $1,000,000.
