PGL Wallachia Season 5 Group Stage Results
After five days of Dota 2 action, the PGL Wallachia Season 5 Swiss Stage comes to a close. 8 teams have been eliminated, and the remaining 8 have been seeded into a double-elimination bracket. Let’s recap what happened on the final day of the group stage.
Tundra Esports 2-1 Wildcard Gaming
The first series of the day was supposed to be an easy wash for Tundra Esports, but surprisingly, the North American representatives put up a respectable fight, particularly in the second game.
Tundra Esports had a massive 18,000 net worth lead at the 46-minute mark against Yamsun’s carry Alchemist, on top of that. However, Wildcard Gaming pulled off a huge comeback fight to turn the game around and keep the series even.
Still, their efforts were in vain, as Tundra Esports could easily close out the series with a clean sweep on the decider.
Xtreme Gaming 2-0 Heroic
Heroic started the Swiss Stage with a brutal 0-2 record but bounced back all the way to the 2-2 pool to face Xtreme Gaming. Unfortunately, they couldn’t convert the series and were eliminated from the event.
Xtreme Gaming had firm control of both games in the series, except for some slight hiccups on the second. Heroic attempted a comeback after being down against Mega Creeps, but ultimately, the Chinese squad’s lead was too large.
BetBoom Team 2-1 Team Tidebound
The final series of the day featured a close matchup between the BetBoom Team and Team Tidebound.
After taking the first map in convincing fashion, the BetBoom Team looked to close out the series with a monstrous 5,000 net worth lead at the 10-minute mark. However, Team Tidebound played the map very well, got some pickoffs, and turned the game around to keep the series level.
Unfortunately for Chinese fans, the BetBoom Team went back to their winning ways in the third map and closed the series after a respectable Monkey King performance from gpk~, who went 10/2/19 to end the series.
With these results, only 8 teams remain at the event:
