Sea wave cup: the prize money will be paid, but it's not sure

Recently some news sources published information about a tournament called Sea wave cup. At first sight, it looks like another Tier-4 tournament for Southeast Asia, but if we start figuring it out, it's not so simple.

An unknown tournament operator that announced this tournament indicated a world famous brand, the Chinese company Honor, as a title sponsor. Also, the rules of the tournament have interesting points about the prize pool. But first things first.

Fake sponsor?

The first thing that catches your eye is the bad design of all the promos related to the tournament. It's hard to believe that a brand like Honor, with a capitalization of over $160 billion, could allocate funds to something like this:

Interestingly, the organizer's Instagram lists the sponsor's official account, but Honor itself hasn't mentioned the tournament on its social media. We've already asked Honor's office for official information and look forward to hearing its answer.

Tournament prize pool

Another interesting fact is about the prize pool of Sea wave cup. The tournament's official rules say that the prize will be paid within 3 months after the end of the tournament via Cryptocurrency/Crypto Wallet.

But that's not the strangest thing. There is a clause in the rules about possible changes in the prize fund. The organizer reserves the right to set any amount as a prize at any time without additional notice.

The list of participants very much resembles many previously underplayed tournaments. There is probably something besides prize money that motivates teams to participate in such events. Meanwhile, the tournament started, and only time will tell whether it finishes.
