Team Spirit Qualify For ESL One Birmingham 2024
The TI champions book their slot at the third Major event of 2024 after defeating Virtus.Pro 2-1 in the Closed Qualifier for ESL One Birmingham 2024. To achieve qualification, Team Spirit had to defeat Yellow Submarine, Natus Vincere, and finally, Virtus.Pro.
In their first qualifier match, the Dragons faced Yellow Submarine, their academy roster assembled by their manager Korb3n. Everyone was expecting an easy 2-0, but that was not the case. Yellow Submarine put up a decent fight and even took a map off Team Spirit. However, Team Spirit could easily convert the decisive map and carry on.
The second round was a matchup against Natus Vincere, a team on the rise. The first map was incredibly close, with Larl and Miposhka ratting the throne in a 65-minute game. Map 2 was utterly dominated by Team Spirit, allowing them to win the series 2-0 easily.
In the match for the first ESL One Birmingham slot for Eastern Europe, Team Spirit played against Virtus.Pro. Kiritych played an excellent Faceless Void game to win the first map for the Bears. However, Team Spirit showed superiority and experience in completing the reverse sweep and getting the job done.
Virtus.Pro still has a chance to qualify for Birmingham, as they will play the winner of Klim Sani4 and Yellow Submarine in a Best of 3 series for qualification.
ESL One Birmingham 2024 will occur from April 22-28 in England. The tournament features a $1,000,000 prize pool and will feature the best teams in the world.
