The International 10 Playoff: Day 4

Exclusive
Published at: 2021-10-15 17:27:00

Day 4 of The International 10 Playoff is over. Three teams left the tournament today, including two-time TI champion — OG. Here's everything about the fourth day.

Team Spirit 2:0 OG

For the first time, the game day started almost without any delays. The first match was a clash between OG and Team Spirit. OG was considered the favorite of the meeting: 62.6% of all votes were given to them.

The first map between the teams was the most spectacular fight of the tournament. OG took an aggressive pick early in the game, while Team Spirit chose the late game. As a result, OG couldn't finish the game quickly, while the Team Spirit heroes managed to get the necessary artifacts. There was no more intrigue on the second map. Team Spirit eliminated their opponent in 30 minutes. Highlights are attached.

After the defeat, OG's offlaner Ceb hinted at the end of his career. However, the team hasn't officially announced it yet.

Vici Gaming 2:1 T1

The next match was T1 vs. Vici Gaming. Before its start, the predictions were divided almost evenly: 55% for the former and 45% for the latter.

Vici Gaming repeated the scenario of the previous round, where it played against Evil Geniuses. The Chinese team lost the first map without a chance but then made a comeback and won the series. During the game, it was clear that T1 couldn't cope with the pressure.

Even 7-8th place for a team from Southeast Asia can be called a good result. The team won $1,000,500.

Team Spirit 2:1 Virtus Pro

The last game of the day was the CIS derby between Virtus Pro and Team Spirit. Despite the incredible level of play from Team Spirit in the morning, our analysts gave more votes for Virtus Pro.

The whole series between the teams was incredibly tense, especially the third map, where the teams played 51 minutes. Everything was decided at the very end when Virtus Pro made a mistake at the key moment and lost the fight.

Team Spirit made it to The International for the first time in the history of the tag and will take at least 4th place. In turn, Virtus Pro is in 5th-6th place and repeats the record of the previous rosters from 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Standings

The International 10 takes place from October 7 to 17 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The tournament features 18 teams from different regions to compete for the prize of $40,018,195.
