Three of the four EEU teams advanced to the upper bracket semifinals of PGL Wallachia S8
The first day of the PGL Wallachia Season 8 playoffs has ended, PARIVISION, Aurora, Team Liquid and BetBoom Team advanced to the upper bracket semifinals. South America Rejects, Heroic, Team Falcons and Team Spirit dropped to the lower bracket.
The day started with the match between PARIVISION and South America Rejects, from which PARIVISION emerged victorious. On the first map, DarkMago♡ single-handedly carried his team on Queen of Pain, finishing with a 17/0/17 KDA and dealing 72 thousand damage.
At minute 38, DarkMago♡ showed Satanic why you shouldn’t pick Meepo into QoP:
On the next two maps, PARIVISION outplayed their opponents already at the draft stage; the heroes of South America Rejects simply lacked damage.
Aurora played two fairly long maps against Heroic. The first went under complete domination from Aurora, and near the end Nightfall on Tiny pulled off a Rampage:
On the second map it seemed that Heroic could win, but due to a lack of control and building damage they failed to close it out quickly. Aurora reached the late game and turned the outcome in their favor.
ATF picked Monkey King for himself on the first map against Team Liquid, which doomed his team to defeat. Ace on Underlord bought aura items, which allowed them to contain the opponents’ fast tempo, while miCKe on Lone Druid and Nisha on Storm Spirit reached their key items and destroyed Team Falcons in the late game. Sneyking played one of the worst maps of his career, finishing with a 1/13/9 KDA. The second map was full domination by Team Liquid and ended in 38 minutes.
To close out the day, we had a classic CIS derby where BetBoom Team ran over Team Spirit 2-0. Over the two maps, Team Spirit never once held a gold lead, and on the second map Kiritych on Lifestealer scored a Rampage:
PGL Wallachia Season 8 is taking place April 18–26 in Bucharest, Romania. The tournament’s prize pool is 1 million dollars.
