Valve started looking for a new venue for The International 10
Last night Valve published an open letter about the situation with The International 10. The chances of holding the tournament in Sweden are rapidly decreasing, and the company began looking for a new venue.
According to Valve, the situation has become almost impossible after the Swedish Sports Federation didn't support the inclusion of Esports in the federation. Because of this, The International 10 won't receive the status of a high-level sports event. As a result, all the players and team personnel couldn't get visas to the country since Sweden has strict restrictive measures. Since June 14, Valve has been waiting for an answer from the Swedish government to cooperate with the event.
While the situation remains unclear, the search for a new venue for The International 10 has already begun. The developer is considering all possible locations in Europe. Valve has promised to share information regarding the tournament on short notice.
Despite this, regional qualifiers for The International 10 will be held on schedule. Their dates: CIS and South America — June 23-26, North America and Southeast Asia — June 30-July 3, Europe and China — July 7-10.
