The second playoff day of DreamLeague 29 has ended. Today decided the fate of the teams from the lower bracket. The tournament was left by Virtus.pro, Vici Gaming and Team Liquid.
The most interesting events of the day:
- Xtreme Gaming stay afloat even without the Director. Many say that right now it’s just a very successful meta for teams like Team Spirit and Xtreme Gaming, because it’s profitable to play 4+1. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see whether the Chinese can cope with Tundra Esports on the downswing.
- Tundra Esports themselves barely managed to defeat Virtus.pro; they needed all three maps to prove their right to continue participating in the tournament. Right during the match, rumors surfaced that the organization would leave Dota soon, and the roster would move under the wing of 1win Team. These rumors have already even been indirectly confirmed by the change of the team’s ID; now we just have to wait for official comments on this matter.
- As for Vici Gaming and BetBoom Team, the series went smoothly for the guys from the CIS: gpk~ even managed to steal Roshan and the Aegis, and Kiritych calmly dived under the fountain in the first game. And although in the second game Vici Gaming turned out to be stronger, it was natural that the third map went into the piggy bank of BetBoom Team, since the level of play of the guys is noticeably higher at the moment.
DreamLeague 29 takes place online from May 13 to 24 with a prize pool of 1 million dollars. DreamLeague 29 is the last tournament of the EPT season, after which invites to the Esports World Cup 2026 will be issued.
