Dyrachyo Accidentally Dies To Tormentor In Crucial Game; DreamLeague Season 22 Playoffs Decided

News

The week-long second Group Stage of DreamLeague Season 22 has finally come to an end. Four teams have made it to the Playoffs, while the rest have been eliminated. Team Falcons and the BetBoom Team will begin in the Upper Bracket, while Team Spirit and Xtreme Gaming will start in the Lower.

In the elimination match between Gaimin Gladiators and Xtreme Gaming, dyrachyo, who had a Divine Rapier on Phantom Assassin, accidentally killed himself to the Tormentor, which was a factor that led to the team’s departure from the tournament. Look for the clip below!

BetBoom Team 2-1 Team Aurora

Though most people thought this series meant nothing since Team Aurora had already been eliminated earlier, the BetBoom Team had to win this game to secure a top 2 finish in the group so they could start their Playoffs run in the Upper Bracket.

The first map of the series was easily won by the BetBoom Team – the Southeast Asian squad had no chance. In the second, gpk went for a Huskar pick to counter lorenof’s Pangolier. Still, after some good ganks by Aurora, the BetBoom Mid Laner died multiple times and did not have the early game impact he was looking for, allowing Aurora to steal the game.

In the final map, it looked like Aurora would win a completely pointless series for them, building a 13,000 net worth lead at the 29-minute mark. However, the BetBoom Team minimized the impact of lorenof’s Lina after killing him off quickly in fights. The Eastern European side turned the game around and won the series 2-1, securing second place.

OG 1-2 Team Spirit

Unlike the first series, this one was crucial. Both teams were sitting with 3 points in groups, meaning they essentially had to eliminate each other to survive.

Larl played a flawless game on Leshrac on the first map, going 11/0/14 to push Team Spirit to an easy first map victory. In the second, Team Spirit completely dominated the laning stage, with a 5,000 net worth lead at 9 minutes. However, the TI winners could not find anymore favorable engagements, and slowly allowed OG to come back. Team Spirit looked lost in their decision making, conceding the game to Timado’s Razor at the 48th minute.

Still, Team Spirit could close the series after a convincing third map. The game looked a little shaky in the middle, but with the roster’s experience, the Dragons could close the series 2-1, making it to Playoffs and eliminating OG.

Team Spirit went from a 1-3 record to a 4-3 record in groups.

Team Falcons 2-0 Shopify Rebellion

Though the BetBoom Team had something to play for in their series, this one meant absolutely nothing.

As expected, the Falcons continued their dominant run in the Group Stage, demolishing Shopify Rebellion 2-0.

Sneyking and the boys have gone 7-0 overall and 14-1 in maps. The one map they lost was to Aurora, the lowest-performing team. Who could have guessed?

Xtreme Gaming 2-0 Gaimin Gladiators

This matchup followed the same situation as OG and Team Spirit; Playoffs or bust. Dyrachyo, who Ame called a B-Tier Carry player, will finally have the chance to prove him wrong—but he didn’t.

The Gladiators won the early game in the first map and built up a sizable lead. However, Xtreme Gaming could bounce back after punishing mistakes made by dyrachyo and Ace. The Gaimin Gladiators could not find anything else and had to tap out at minute 38.

The second map looked over when Xtreme Gaming had a considerable net worth lead, claiming Mega Creeps in only 36 minutes. However, like Yatoro, dyrachyo bought a Divine Rapier paired with a Revenant’s Brooch to one-shot enemy heroes. The Gladiators seemed to be making a comeback, winning fights left and right and having a 20,000 net worth lead at one point.

However, while pushing out a lane in the 67th minute, dyrachyo threw a Dagger on a Terrorblade illusion. Since he was standing near the Tormentor, the Dagger flew toward it and ended up one-shotting him, killing himself because of the reflected damage.

His Rapier was dropped and was forced to buyback. Xtreme Gaming won the game-ending fight to win the series.

With this 0-2 loss, the Gladiators have been eliminated from DreamLeague Season 22. Here’s how the Group Stage ended:

The Playoffs will run from March 9 to 10, with four participants following a double-elimination format.

At the end of the tournament, teams will be distributed $1,000,000 in prize money and much-needed EPT points.
