ESL sends participants home immediately after leaving the major
Enzo "Timado" Gianoli, a member of the North American Dota 2 team TSM, explained how ESL dealt with teams leaving ESL One Berlin Major 2023. He wrote about it on his social media.

Right after a team leaves ESL One Berlin Major 2023, the organizer sends all the players home. You lose your hotel room. You also pay to book new tickets. That's the way of life for the last-place players in the major.
Recall that TSM was eliminated from the group stage of ESL One Berlin Major 2023 early. After 7 matches, the team has 2 maps won. This is not enough to take at least 6th place and reach the playoffs.
ESL One Berlin Major 2023 takes place from April 26 to May 7 in Germany. The best teams in the world compete for $500,000 and the 2,700 DPC points needed to qualify for The International 2023.
