Pure Carries Tundra Esports To Upset Team Falcons
Tundra Esports managed to cause an upset against Team Falcons in the first round of the ESL One Birmingham 2024 Upper Bracket. The series ended with a score of 2-1.
The map was a complete outdraft in favor of Tundra. The Western European squad played textbook Dota, waiting for proper timings and grouping up when power spikes were hit. Pure ended the first map 16/2/11 on his trusty Luna, taking the first map.
With their backs against the wall, Team Falcons approached the second game picking comfort heroes, Razor for ATF, Timbersaw for Malr1ne, and Sven for skiter. The Falcons dominated the game, but Pure’s Morphling still posed a massive threat by getting an Ultra Kill despite being down thousands in gold. Still, Team Falcons could close the second map after 44 minutes of play.
The third game featured a very interesting draft. Both Tundra and Team Falcons picked the exact same core heroes as they did in the previous game. Tundra stole both supports, Hoodwink and Disruptor, which were the two heroes Cr1t- and Sneyking played in the previous map.
Team Falcons had a decent start to the third map, taking a sizable gold lead. However, a failed high ground attempt fed Pure a Triple Kill which propelled his Morphling to the top of the net worth chart. Eventually, the Russian carry became too much for the Falcons to deal with, allowing Tundra to win the series.
At the end of the game, Pure, who went 12/1/10, dropped some messages in the all-chat.
Topson and the crew will play against the winner of the BetBoom Team vs. OG series.
