PlayTime took the last EWC slot from NAVI, results of the fourth day of DL 29 playoffs

The fourth day of the playoffs of DreamLeague 29 has ended. PlayTime overtook Natus Vincere in the EPT standings, and BetBoom Team, Tundra Esports and Xtreme Gaming left the tournament.

In the first match of the day Tundra Esports faced Xtreme Gaming. The match turned out to be very long and exciting; the maps lasted 63, 56 and 71 minutes. The first map started with a dry score and a small advantage for Xtreme Gaming due to stronger lanes. By the 31st minute the Chinese team were ahead by only 3,000 gold. Tundra Esports killed Roshan, but at the same second Pure died and a fight began; 33 decided not to give the Aegis to the opponents and destroyed it.

Xtreme Gaming won the fight and, taking advantage of the moment, went to break the central tier-3 tower. Tundra Esports, defending the base three versus five, repelled the attack and, after Pure respawned, went on the counteroffensive. The fight stretched along the entire length of the mid lane; Tundra Esports rushed in pursuit of Xtreme Gaming, killing three players along the way. Reaching the enemy base, Tundra Esports took down one lane of barracks, which allowed them to secure an advantage and farm key items. Afterwards Xtreme Gaming were unable to win a single fight, and at the end of the map Pure finished it off with a Double Rampage.

The second map was played under complete domination by Xtreme Gaming. The Chinese team picked elusive Nature's Prophet for Ame and Storm Spirit for NothingToSay. The slow heroes of Tundra Esports couldn’t catch up with their opponents, which caused them to constantly get split up and die one by one. Going into the late game, Xtreme Gaming turned out to be a head stronger than Tundra Esports.

On the decisive 70‑minute map Tundra Esports picked unconventional heroes: Pure played Doom, and 33 played Necrophos. Tundra Esports were stronger in lane and gained a small advantage, but due to the lack of building damage they couldn’t finish the game. Xtreme Gaming slowly transitioned into the late game and waited for Tundra Esports to come to their high ground. Tundra Esports lost two fights in a row, which allowed Xtreme Gaming to come back, take the Aegis and leave only two Barracks on the Tundra Esports base. While retreating, Xtreme Gaming split up and lost three heroes, which dragged the game out and brought it into hyper-late with tier-5 neutral items. The longer the game went, the less effective the physical damage from Terrorblade of Ame and Pangolier of NothingToSay became. In the decisive fight Tundra Esports ran over Xtreme Gaming, getting 10 kills and losing only two heroes.

In the second match of the day PlayTime turned out to be stronger than BetBoom Team. This match was very important for the Peruvians: by winning it, PlayTime overtook Natus Vincere in the EPT standings and earned the last slot at the Esports World Cup 2026.

The first map was easy for BetBoom Team, and gpk~ notched a Rampage.

On the second map PlayTime seized the advantage in the mid game, but in the 56th‑minute Roshan fight gpk~ on Storm Spirit dealt an enormous amount of damage, turning the course of the game. It seemed that PlayTime would no longer be able to win, but DarkMago♡ on Kunka found a great moment, hitting the enemy Beastmaster's boar with a "splash" and killing two BetBoom Team heroes with one hit. In the fight for the next Roshan BetBoom Team lost positional advantage but managed to retreat without casualties. However, gpk~, playing Storm Spirit, chose the talent that causes Static Remnant to appear along the distance traveled with Ball Lightning. elmisho, having the tier-5 neutral item Book of the Dead, ran the red Necronomicon through the enemy Remnants, and because of this the game counted it as a kill by gpk~. When the red Necronomicon is killed, the killer receives 800 damage. This was enough to kill gpk~ and force him to use buyback. In the decisive fight two heroes of PlayTime died, but this didn’t stop the Peruvians from destroying the Throne.

On the third map BetBoom Team tried to surprise their opponents with a mid Huskar, but the idea didn’t work; PlayTime crushed BetBoom Team in 33 minutes.

At the end of the day Aurora ran over the exhausted Tundra Esports, who had gone through a hard and long playing day, with a 2-0 score.

DreamLeague 29 takes place online from May 13 to 24 with a prize pool of 1 million dollars. DreamLeague 29 is the last tournament of the EPT season, after which invites to the Esports World Cup 2026 will be issued.
