Valve announced the launch of an anime in the Dota universe. It is called DOTA: Dragon's Blood and will be released on March 25 on Netflix. Information about this appeared on the developer's blog.

The fantasy series tells the story of the famous Dragon Knight Davion, who, after meeting Princess Mirana, got caught up in mysterious events. The anime received an 8-episode adaptation.

Animation for the show will be done by Studio MIR, which made The Legend of Korra and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. The showrunner of the project, Ashley Miller, has worked on X-Men: First Class, Thor, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Also, in 2019, the Dota 2 rival, League of Legends, announced the launch of an anime adaptation of the game. It is called Arcane. The anime series was scheduled for 2020 but was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic outbreak.
